Antonio Bisceglia, nei suoi post, ha fornito notizie circa il controllo che la Curia Romana esercitava su Giacomo Leopardi, ritenuto miscredente e anticlericale, nonché vicino ad ambienti liberal-rivoluzionari per l'amicizia con Antonio Ranieri. Destinatario delle sollecitazione romane era naturalmente il Nunzio Apostolico, la cui sede era il palazzo - appunto della Nunziatura Apostolica - in Via Toledo n° 352/a a Napoli, rappresentanza diplomatica presso il Regno delle Due Sicilie (foto). Edificio risalente al 1585, che conserva della struttura originaria il portale con lunga iscrizione e che ha subìto gli inevitabili rimaneggiamenti, soprattutto a seguito di terremoti. Si presenta oggi di aspetto neoclassico, che potrebbe essere lo stesso visto da Leopardi. Il poeta infatti, indipendentemente dalle indagini inquisitorie della Curia Romana e chissà se non proprio in coincidenza con esse, si reca nel 1836 in questo palazzo. Essendo suddito pontificio, sporge reclamo contro le autorità napoletane che pretendevano il pagamento della "Contribuzione della Guardia d’Interna Sicurezza", pena l’arruolamento al servizio attivo. Il nunzio, inoltrando il reclamo, annota che “il sig. conte Leopardi non può, né deve far parte della Guardia suddetta, perché… è tanto piccolo di statura e sì mal conformato che nemmeno nelle più critiche circostanze dovrebb’essere chiamato a prestare servizio militare”. Durante l’infierire del colera, il poeta scrive al padre il 9 marzo 1837: “Intanto le comunicazioni col nostro Stato non sono riaperte; e fino a questi ultimi giorni ho saputo dalla Nunziatura che nessuna probabilità v’era che si riaprissero per ora”. <a href="https://www.flickr.com/groups/napolinobilissima/discuss/72157657683114931/#comment72157665324133121">www.flickr.com/groups/napolinobilissima/discuss/721576576...</a> |
